True Love

It is true love because
I put on eyeliner and a concerto and make pungent observations about the great issues of the day
Even when there's no one here but him,
And because
I do not resent watching the Green Bay Packer
Even though I am philosophically opposed to football,
And because
When he is late for dinner and I know he must be either having an affair or lying dead in the middle of the street,
I always hope he's dead.

It's true love because
If he said quit drinking martinis but I kept drinking them and the next morning I couldn't get out of bed,
He wouldn't tell me he told me,
And because
He is willing to wear unironed undershorts
Out of respect for the fact that I am philosophically opposed to ironing,
And because
If his mother was drowning and I was drowning and he had to choose one of us to save,
He says he'd save me.

It's true love because
When he went to San Francisco on business while I had to stay home with the painters and the exterminator and the baby who was getting the chicken pox,
He understood why I hated him,
And because
When I said that playing the stock market was juvenile and irresponsible and then the stock I wouldn't let him buy went up twenty-six points,
I understood why he hated me,
And because
Despite cigarette cough, tooth decay, acid indigestion, dandruff, and other features of married life that tend to dampen the fires of passion,
We still feel something
We can call
True love.

If She Only Knew

If she only knew how passionate the love was,
Reckoning any false composure I may flourish.
Taunted by the many traits in which she may possess,
If only I was strong enough to bring my interest to the surface.
If she only knew, does she recognize me by name, or immortality?
Simplistically, an unending journey through in-depth mystery,
Unaware of my existence or existing urge of acknowledgment,
Gently brushing away self-esteem and replacing thus with misery.
If she only knew the sun sets upon her sudden appearance making room for the moon,
In turn illuminating the waves hammering amongst the rivers delight.
And to my delight I scurry to secrete within my hidden desire,
As I witness her light up each and every star that dwells in the night.
If she only knew, I must be consumed with what God graced these grounds with,
This is more than heaven sent; it is a personal delivery from the Lords throne.
Ones heart mends from a broken past with surplus reification.
These sensations are virtually unbearable, yet fear remains, and I remain alone.

I feel that people use the term love all too loosely. I've always had those friends who will say "love ya", but to be honest, I'd much rather say "like ya". Liking someone in any way, I feel is all about thinking, it's the cognitive side of relationships. When you love someone, its leaves that realm of thoughts. You don't even realize its there. When you love someone, you give up what you have and expect nothing in return. There's not that worry of equality in giving an receiving, because all that matters is that person you love. I believe this applies to any kind of love that you could think of, the love of parents/family/significant other/friends/animals/nature. Many people claim that they love different people different ways, you love your girlfriend or boyfriend in a different way that you love your parents. When it comes down to it, love is love, and it is the most amazing gift any of us have ever been given, this binding tie of all of humanity.

Here's a slightly different take on love...

Why are we content to merely exist? This world of filth was not always so. Our dead yet beating hearts are not destined to dormancy. They are called to a great purpose. The hearts of humanity are called to love. To love each other. To love God. Only when it is loving can the heart erupt into life. That is how God intended it to be. Wholeness stems from sacrifice. The seeming sacrifice of love fills the empty caverns of the human soul. God, teach us to love that we may live.

never been in love so i dont know what it is or how it feels......i would guess that it is a feeling that your life wouldnt or couldnt be the same without that person. That you care more about their well being and happiness more than your own, and that at the end of the day there is no one you would rather be with then them. you can be completely yourself and comfortable sharing that side with them, and they you. just some ideas and thoughts, hope it helps

hey nice job with the blog. I like-no-love it..lol here's my lil bit.

To every guy that would give his seat up.
To every guy that just wants to cuddle.
To every guy that reassured her that she was beautiful no matter what.
To every guy who told his secrets to her.
To every guy that tried to show how much he cared through every word and every breath.
To every guy that thought maybe this could be the one.
To every guy that believed in her dreams.
To every guy that would have done anything so she could achieve them.
To every guy that never laughed at her when she told him her dreams.
To every guy that walked her to her car.
To every guy that gave his heart

To every guy who prays that she is happy even if you are not with her.

I think love is something you cant give a simple definition to. And there's no one way to truly express it. Love is how you treat and care for a person, and the intentions behind it all. sooo.

Love ya ;)

Why dnt many people know the difference between loving someone and being IN LOVE.? It's not that hard of a concept.!

Loving someone is way different than being in love
You can "love" anyone. i.e. friends, family, pets, shoes, etc.
Of course it has similarities to being in love, because it is the first stage of actually falling IN LOVE with a person. I mean, no wonder ppl get it confused sometimes.
But there comes a time when loving someone evolves into being IN LOVE with that person.

Being in love is a feeling you have for that person only and no one else.
Being in love gives your opposite that part of your heart as a whole. not just bits and pieces.
Being in love requires you to actually want to be with that person, not just because you love them...
you can be in a relationship that is NEVER meant to be anything more than just love or even lust.
But being in love makes you realize that this is your "number one" and that's all you'll ever want. your top priority outside your family and financial/educational obligations.

Being in love is so much deeper than just loving someone.

You can love them as a person
But not be IN love
